VA Drops The Ball For Vets

There was a news report today that out of the 26.5 million names that were on the unauthorized laptop of a V.A. employee, 2.2 million are active duty. Now there is only one way that an active duty member can get in the V.A. files, if they require extended medical care from an injury caused in the line of duty. This means the ones who have been injured in battle and are being cared for after returning to the U.S.

These vets and their families are at their most vunerable because of the stress of recovering, the stress of getting families to their sides and to help them through the recovery process. Leaving these active veterans open to have to deal with this is beyond disgusting, it should be a crime. The only reason that this employee was allowed to take the laptop and the information is because of lax, sloppy work ethics. This is a direct reflection of the top of the management chain of the Veterans Administration. There needs to be a complete overhaul of this department and the head of it should be immediately replaced by a by the books leader.

The least we can do for our veterans is to take care of them for their sacrifices to this country. I can think of no worse treatment than to lose their personal data and tell them they need to watch their finances. Are you kidding me? You should immediately set up a plan with the big three credit bureau's to have them watch the veterans credit for free or at a discounted price that the Veterans Administration pay for on their behalf. To leave them vulnerable to identity theft or worse, depending on who has the data, is the most shameful act I've seen.

The government is treating illegal aliens better than their own military!
